An electrically hinged VisionVent opening rooflight was crucial in injecting much-needed natural daylight, and ventilation into this 19th century Grade II listed barn in rural Wymondham. Providing the property with a new lease of life.
MODERN EXTENSION BENEFITS FROM ADDITIONAL DAYLIGHT
Originally, when the homeowner bought the property, there was a distinct lack of natural daylight in the main barn, creating a dark atmosphere. Looking to change this, they sought the help of architects to add a modern extension which complimented the barn and its surroundings, whilst ensuring plenty of light would fill the room.
BRINGING HEIGHT AND LIGHT INTO THE HOME
A high angled roof was designed to match a similar building close to the barn. Added height ceilings rendered the opening rooflight inaccessible. So, an electronic motor in the hinged ventilation unit allows for the roof light to be opened and closed at the push of a button, meaning the homeowner and their family were able to bring the outdoors in and create a connection between the new extension and its surroundings.
A SPACE FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY TO ENJOY
Having already had positive experiences of using rooflights.com’s products, the architect specified the VisionVent rooflight for use on the Rudge Barn extension which created a bright and open space, enjoyable for the whole family. The clients were able to benefit from plenty of natural daylight entering the extension, and also the additional ventilation aspect of the rooflight. Combined with the large doors leading onto the garden, this was an ideal solution for creating wind-driven ventilation throughout the property.
