Acoustic glass involves two panes of glass separated by a cavity. The gas in this cavity dampens the vibrations before they can reach the second pane. This helps to reduce both the level of vibration and the amount of sound transmitted. When specifying glass to achieve a sound reduction the performance will be improved by having a different thickness inner and outer pane and/or making at least one of the panes a laminated glass.
